The Daily Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: Acclaim The Nation, (1555 Thirsk), 1pt win, 10/1 generally available
The market leaders here all might prefer a bit more cut but the ground looks likely to be very quick on a track that emphasises speed. With high draws likely to help this could suit Bogart and Acclaim The Nation. The latter named is lightly raced enough to have the most scope for improvement. He won off a pound higher than this on quick ground at Doncaster last year before his season was cut short. He had a nice pipe opener at Wolves this Spring before a decent turf effort behind a very progressive winner at Windsor. Should be spot on now, gets first time cheekpieces, and you would expect connections to wait to apply them for when the horse is in top form so as not to waste their first time impact. Should run a big race at good odds.
Sharp Operator, (1635 Brighton), 4/1: Not the best in at the weights here but only has 4lbs to find with the top weighted. Was consistent on the all weather after transferring from Ireland, and showed promise here on UK turf debut when a fading 4th over a longer trip. Steps down in distance and class here and may have the edge over main rival Baby Gal.
Zeshov, (1655 Thirsk), 3/1: All his wins have come on faster ground so the hot spell has certainly been in his favour. Hasn’t run here, but two wins at similarly sharp Musselburgh bode well. Had a slow start this spring on the synthetics, but showed more when third back on turf last time and stable is flying.
Mango Chutney, (1725 Thirsk), 5/2: Twice a winner here on quick ground and several other good course runs. Reappeared from an extended break when an excellent close 2nd on a decent little race at Wetherby. Should come on for that, and with conditions here ideal then he has a great chance to notch another track victory.
