Friday Yankee: Magic moment for monster Nap?

The Daily Yankee:

NAP OF THE DAY:  Magic Circle, (1535 Chester), 3pts win, 6/1 generally available

He was a very good fifth in this last year and has been much luckier with the draw this year. Has switched to the excellent yard of Ian Williams and any refreshment for that change will surely see him go very close here in what is likely to be his major target for the season, he has a huge chance and should be half the price.

Gossiping, (1350 Chester), 13/2:  won back to back Goodwood handicaps this time last year.  It has been pretty shocking since, but his 9th of 14 was much better than it looked returning to turf last time, and he is pretty well drawn to track the pace here.  Old blog favourites Muntadab and Baraweez look the big dangers but both look a little high in the weights.

Angel Gabrial, (1715 Chester), 9/1:  This is the Chester Cup consolation race and the market seems less impacted by the draw – which makes little sense.  The old Fahey duo of Suegioo and Angel Gabrial know this place very well having been 1-2 in the big on back in 2014, and both have good stalls. The handicapper looks to have relented more quickly for Angel Gabrial and whilst both should go well, he gets the verdict.

Raucous, (1940 Ascot), 10/1:  was favourite when 8th in last year’s Wokingham for Willie Haggas. Now a stone lower and switched to sprint king Robert Cowell.  Has run two races of promise on the all weather and Spencer looks a good booking.  There is a risk that 18 month absent unbeaten Dreamfield could be a superstar, in which case it’s a race for second, but the market may be overestimating that prospect and hence Raucous looks overpriced.
