Premier League: Looking for goals…

It’s the last weekend of the Premier League season, and there are a couple of important positions to be decided.

Manchester City are champions, while Manchester United and Spurs have clinched Champions League qualification.

The final Champions League spot lies between Liverpool and Chelsea, with the Reds firmly in the driving seat. All they need is a point at home against Brighton, given their superior goal difference.

Although they have looked a little tired of late, Liverpool will have had a week to rest while most teams played midweek. Thus we think Liverpool will win today, and will take a punt that striker Roberto Firmino scores.

A Liverpool win could put pressure on Spurs for the third position in the league. However, Tottenham have an eminently winnable game at home to Leicester.

The Foxes did well against Arsenal midweek, but have looked like they were on holiday early for most of the last month.

We’ll take Spurs to win this game with relative ease, and take in form midfielder Christian Eriksen to score.

Our final game sees new champions Manchester City traveling to Southampton.

The Saints are not completely secure from relegation, but it would take an unusual set of circumstances for them to suffer the drop.

Manchester City have shown no signs of letting up despite clinching the title weeks ago. Southampton may press on to try and win the game, but this would leave gaps for City’s superb attacking players to score. We’ll have a punt on striker Gabriel Jesus scoring.

Recommendation: Firmino (Liverpool/Brighton), Eriksen (Tottenham/Leicester) and Jesus (Southampton/Man City) all to score, 1 pt, at approximately 17/2, Paddy Power
