The PGA Tour heads to Texas this week for the AT&T Byron Nelson. This is being held at a new course called Trinity Forest, just outside Dallas.
This course is going to create waves, as it’s as far away from the traditional PGA Tour golf course as you can get, being of links design. There are few trees, and given the exposed nature, and the fact we’re in Texas, expect wind!
Many of the players will find these conditions alien, but not all.
Favourite for this event is Dallas resident and member of this course Jordan Spieth, There have been recent signs of Spieth getting back to his best, but his putting remains inconsistent and his price too short for us to get involved.
Another member of the course is Beau Hossler. Living in Austin, Hossler has already shown his liking for Texan golf, losing in a playoff for the Houston Open in April.
We won’t put anyone off Hossler, but we’ll be siding with a more experienced player who plays very well in the wind and has a good record in Texas. Step forward Australian Marc Leishman.
Recommendation: Leishman to win, 1 pt, at 25/1, Ladbrokes
