Saturday sees the final game of the English domestic season, the FA Cup final. Wembley hosts the game between Manchester United and Chelsea.
These are two of the more famous names in English football, but this will be only the third time they have met in the FA Cup final. The score stands at 1-1.
The results in the league this season match this, one win each, which all points to a tight game. In fact, in the last 10 Premier League games the winning side has scored more than two goals on only two occasions.
So who’s going to win?
Well, we’re going to side with Manchester United largely because of the impressive record of their manager Jose Mourinho in cup finals.
The ‘Special One’ has won 11 out of 13 cup finals since 2003, and all five during his managerial career in England.
That said, just three of his cup final victories have come with a winning margin greater than one goal, and four have gone to extra time. He has also lost two in extra time. So prepare those nails for biting!
In terms of betting, the 1-0 score line looks likely, but we’re going to take a punt on a player who has shown a liking for the big time. New signing Alexis Sanchez scored in this very fixture last year for Arsenal, and also in the final in 2015. We’ll take a punt that the Chilean does so again, using the last goalscorer option to ensure our bet has a long life.
Recommendation: Sanchez to be the last goalscorer, 1 pt, at 15/2, Boyle Sports
