Tuesday Yankee: Monster Mash…

The Daily Yankee:

NAP OF THE DAY:   Masham Star, (1610 Ayr), 1pt win, 5/2 generally available

We are fond of this fella – we had a few near misses with him before he landed our first ever 3pt winning nap.  We have steered clear in the 7 defeats since, but he has fallen nearly a stone in that time. He has shown some form this Spring, but takes a massive drop in class here from the Goodwood and Ascot events of late. At this level he can outclass this lesser field.

Donnelly’s Rainbow, (1535 Ayr), 7/2:  not the strongest of races and by far the best recent form comes from Musselburgh second and third Smugglers Creek and Donnelly’s Rainbow.  Smugglers was a half length to the good last time but Donnelly’s was a bit unlucky and with the excellent Danny Tudhope on board can reverse that form here.

Navajo Star, (1635 Nottingham), 4/1:  this staying race will hardly go down in Nottingham folklore.  Only three of these have winning form at the distance, two of those are now aged 10 and 12, so it’s the 4yo filly Navajo Star who must be bringing the most compelling claims.  She has been consistent on the all weather and converted that to turf with an excellent second last time out over a shorter trip in a better race at Goodwood.

Northern Sky, (1745 Ayr), 5/2:  there are several Irish raiders on the Ayr card and this one looks by far the most likely winner.  He comes here with two good recent runs, which in the context of this race is golden stuff, has a capable amateur on board, and a featherweight off just 57.
