The Daily Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: Latrobe, (1530 Curragh), 1pt win, 4/1. generally available
This is a big step up in class for Joseph O’Brien’s lightly raced maiden. Beautifully bred, his two runner up spots have been stacked full of promise and he arguably faces no stronger opposition here.
The long straight course should be very suitable, and he looks to have the most potential to improve.
Wooster, (1535 Curragh), 6/1: Has improved hugely through a Winter campaign and showed that was no fluke when running a blinder back on turf. His 5th last time at Leopardstown saw him travelling well but he was repeatedly stuck behind a wall of horse and he ended up coasting in. He can deliver on that promise here.
Happily, (1610 Curragh), 6/4: Aidan O’Brien’s filly was our pick for the English 1000g when she ran well for third. This race looks weak enough and she may not have to improve to win – but improve she might after that seasonal debut. It’ll be a surprise if she doesn’t win here.
Neverushacon, (1700 Curragh), 5/1: Jessie Harrington has shown great patience in managing a hurdling campaign that ended with two cracking runs at Punchestown and Killarney. There is considerable room for manouevre, off a mark of just 73.
