The Daily Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: Camakasi, (1420 Leicester), 1pt win, 11/2 generally available
This 7yo has a wonderfully predictable run pattern. Always held up well off the pace, he needs a very strong early gallop for those tactics to come off – hence three wins in 36 career starts. That said he ran very well in a good Windsor race last time, and runaway pacesetter Flight Of Fantasy could be the dream opponent and give Camakasi precisely the conditions he thrives on.
Cavatina, (1520 Leicester), 5/2: This is a race stacked with intriguing lightly raced sorts from eye catching stables. That said they will all have to go some to topple market leader Cavatina. William Haggas is in flying form and he loves a winner at York, so it is significant he took this filly there for an incredibly tough handicap in which she ran a blinder for 4th. That’s probably good enough to win here but she is entitled to improve again and should be very hard to beat.
Priscilla’s Dream, (1650 Leicester), 4/1: pulled very hard on handicap debut and did surprisingly well to finish a close 4th in the end. Danny Tudhope gets the ride and this excellent tactician will have a plan to overcome those issues. If he can settle this filly, and there are few better than him at that job, then the preservation of early energy can stoke up a power packed finish.
Sharp Operator, (2020 Brighton), 7/1: did us a big favour when winning here earlier in the month. In theory this is a more competitive race, but it again looks likely there will be a strong pace and that should allow jockey Carson to use his usual waiting tactics to good effect. Expect to see this guy produced at the furlong pole with a winning finish.
