World Cup: Time for Timo…

The next group we’ll study is Group F, consisting of Germany, Mexico, Sweden and South Korea.

Mexico have qualified comfortably again, and will be attempting to beat their performances from the last six World Cups – defeat in the round of the last 16. They will probably be fighting Sweden for the second position in the group.

Sweden are a solid side who had enough to defeat Italy in the European knock out qualifying. However, there remains a shadow hanging over the team, can they prosper without the imposing presence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic?

That all said, it’s the current World Champions, Germany, who look set to dominate this group. They won all of their 10 qualifying games, scoring an impressive 43 goals in the process.

And it’s this free scoring potential that attracts us to our next bet. We think the Germans are going to progress far in this tournament, and they seemed to have unearthed a talented young striker to lead the line.

Timo Werner is playing for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga and has been a prolific goalscorer for Germany in all of the youth levels. He was picked for the senior side in 2017 and helped his country win the FIFA Confederations Cup, claiming the Golden Boot in the process.

He has scored seven goals in 12 games for the senior side. We’ll take a punt that he translates this form onto the biggest stage,  winning the Golden Boot in the process.

Recommendation: Werner to win the Golden Boot, 1 pt, at 16/1, Unibet
