Group B starts with a bang!
The opening game sees the current European champion Portugal squaring off with neighbour and former World and European champion Spain.
We see this game as crucial to which team wins the group, despite the relative merits of the other members, Morocco and Iran.
Portugal stunned the hosts France in winning the European Championship in 2016, but did so by playing pretty negative football. Although this is a different squad, we doubt this team can be as successful playing the same way, especially as their key player Ronaldo is rapidly approaching the veteran stage.
Spain, on the other hand, have been rejuvenated by the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as manager in 2016. They are a side full of attacking talent, and we expect them start their campaign with a bang.
They should then dismiss Iran with ease, before their last game against Morocco. It has taken the North African side 20 years to return to the big stage and they have several talented players. But we think Spain will have too much, and expect nine points from them in the group stage.
Recommendation: Spain to win all three group games, 1 pt, at 12/5, Paddy Power
