Monday Yankee: Task master…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Multitask, (1700 Brighton), 1pt win, 7/4 generally available

Made his name all the all weather but last two wins have been on turf here off 53 and 60 when a very heavily backed favourite.  Was the subject of a gamble when returning from a break in the all weather last time and horrendously unlucky.  Looks likely to continue the trend of well backed Brighton wins off this handy mark of 55.

Swissal, (2040 Pontefract), 8/1: switched to the all weather after getting handicapped on turf form.  Landed a win and a few places but looked to have plateaued at a mark of 71.  Came back from a break and returned to turf in a decent little Newmarket handicap where he looked desperately unlucky not to finish much better than 6th.  Dropped a pound and back to a stiff 6f, he looks like he can deliver a turf win.

Cosmeapolitan, (1930 Windsor), 10/3:  Alan King’s 5yo ran an absolute blinder at Chester last time, staying on strongly from terrible track position.  He had looked as if under the handicapper’s grip, but that last run suggested there may be a few more pounds of improvement to come.  This track should suit well and he can be another winner for an in form trainer and jockey.

Crotchet, (1940 Pontefract), 7/2:  This filly produced a lifetime best when running on into third at Ripon last time.  Although well beaten, she made her run up the unfavourable middle and both those that beat her have won again since.  Conditions should suit.  Hot favourite Roundhay Park’s only two unplaced runs are his only two at this 6f trip – and this is  a very stiff course on which to allay any stamina concerns.
