The Daily Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: Via Serendipity, (1550 Chelmsford), 1pt win, 6/1 generally available
A truly cracking mile handicap on the all weather. Our favourite Masham Star may have preferred a shorter trip and lower draw so we reluctantly pass him over. Seniority is closely linked to several of these and has most scope to improve. But we prefer Via Serendipity whose 5th of 27 in the Victoria Cup is the best recent form on offer. He has won at this trip and is well drawn to slipstream the pacy Love Dreams.
Vallarta, (1800 Hamilton), 11/2: this veteran has tumbled down to an excellent mark 11lbs below his winning rating this time last year. Showed signs of that form when fifth over Musselburgh’s inadequate 5f last time and has a fine stands side draw here.
Berkshire Spirit, (1940 Kempton), 7/2: has been running consistently well without squeezing home. Looks likely to be well suited to this test. Jockey Jason Watson claims 5 and owes us after a shocking ride on Sir Roderic here last week. He has generally had a good year and can win this one.
Colour Contrast, (2000 Hamilton), 3/1: at the risk of envoking Einstein’s definition of insanity, here we go again with perpetual runner up Colour Contrast. He again got the silver medal when runner up at Musselburgh on the weekend. This looks weak and he has every chance to break that duck.
