NAP OF THE DAY: Juanito Chico, (1530 York), 1pt win, 7/1 generally available
Willie Jarvis’s 4yo looked good last year when meeting quick ground at 7f. He has dabbled at a mile where he seems to fade late on, and has struggled in soft ground of late. Finally reunited with a fast 7f he can come good at a track which should suit.
Across Dubai, (1420 York), 7/2: he win his first three races before progress halted last season with an understandable defeat at Group 3, and then an average effort in a decent Sandown handicap. Likely to progress more now at 4yo under the guidance of trainer Haggas, and this course should be perfect.
Dagueneau, (1725 Sandown), 10/3: still looked green when swerving around before winning last time. Has only a 4lb rise for that, but looks a potentially progressive stayer, with loads more to add as the penny drops. A line through Quantamental puts him on a par with the favourite here, but Dagueneau has great scope to progress under William Buick.
George, (2015 Goodwood), 8/1: the market leaders here have shown their best coming from off a strong pace. There’s no guarantee of that here and this could go to a pace stalker. George has decent form and went well to this distance in a good Epsom race last time. Likely to be ridden close to the pace stepped back to this mile and may have the tactical edge.
