World Cup: Magical Messi

It’s Super Saturday, with four World Cup matches to look forward to.

First out of the blocks is France against Australia. We already have a bet on Kylian Mbappe to be top scorer for Les Bleus. Unfortunately he has been struggling with an injury, but we don’t want to compromise that bet with another goal scorer in a game the French should win easily.

Next up is Argentina against Iceland. Ronaldo shone like a beacon last night and now it’s his great rival Lionel Messi’s turn. Iceland were one of the stars of the European Championships two years ago, but surely this is a game for the South Americans to win. We look for Messi to shine, and take the 8/1 Paddy Power offers that he scores from outside the area.

The third game sees Peru play Denmark. This is a tricky game to call. The Danes only qualified via the play offs but they have put in some strong performances, including thrashing Ireland 5-1 in November. They have also beaten Mexico 2-0 in a warm up, and we look for them to continue this form with a win and both teams scoring.

The final game sees Croatia take on Nigeria. Again this is a tricky game to call between two good sides, but we expect goals. We’ll takes punt on the Croatian side, a team full of talented individuals, to win while both teams score.

Recommendations:

Argentina/Iceland: Messi to score for on outside the area, 1 pt, at 8/1, Paddy Power

Peru/Denmark: Denmark to win with both teams scoring, 1 pt, at 5/1, Paddy Power

Croatia/Nigeria: Croatia to win with both teams scoring, 1 pt, at 7/2, Paddy Power
