Some terrible luck in running yesterday, with Frankie’s hemmed in despair in the last when set for a winning run the image that summed up the day.
NAP OF THE DAY:
1700: Sandringham Stakes; Agrotera, 2pts win, 7/1 Bet365
Ed Walker’s filly is already the subject of a gamble and rightly so. She was really impressive on quick ground at Windsor, and that form is looking very strong. Obviously a tough race, but we think she has a ton in hand on this rating, and straight mile genius Spencer in the saddle.
Rest of the Card
1430: Albany Stakes: Just Wonderful, 1pt win, 5/2 generally available
With the O’Brien and Moore combination in such terrific form yesterday it’s hard to look past the beautifully bred maiden winner Just Wonderful. This doesn’t looks the strongest race, and with stablemate Fairyland long considered the ace in Aidan’s pack for this, the choice of Ryan Moore to ride Just Wonderful looks a huge message.
1505: King Edward VII Stakes: Delano Roosevelt, 1pt win, 3/1 generally available
It’s broken record time again as the O’Brien Moore combo again look set to collect with Derby 6th Delano Roosevelt. The front group were well ahead at Epsom and care need to be taken with the well beaten midfield types like this fella, but stablemate Kew Gardens was further behind and he stormed home here on Wednesday. Another for the deadly duo.
1540: Commonwealth Cup: Laugh A Minute, 0.5pts each way, 28/1 Unibet
The awesome reappearance of Equilateral has not been lost on the bookies but he could be the special one here. A draw of 3 may not help and he looks tight in the market. After him they look a muchness, and although Laugh A Minute is also possibly poorly drawn we at least get a big price. He loves to come off a strong pace and may be better than he has had chance to show so far.
1620: Coronation Stakes: Alpha Centauri, 1pt win, 7/2 generally available
A chance to take on O’Brien and Moore who have the talented Clemmie to rely on. We think she’ll be beaten, not by the home team, but fellow Irish raider Alpah Centauri. Jessica Harrington’s fully collected a first Classic for the yard when a costly winner of the Irish 1000 Guineas. A leggy filly, she looks ideally suited by a strong pace on quick ground, and so should find today ideal.
1730: Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes: Top Tug, 0.5pts each way, 16/1 generally available
Count Calabash, Thundering Home and Dash Of Spice have all looked very impressive in recent wins, but all three have been lumped up the weights. We backed Top Tug in this last year when a fair 4th. He is on the same rating now and has a similar chance – he looks a solid each way shout.
The Daily Yankee:
Just Wonderful – Delano Roosevelt – Alpha Centauri – Agrotera
