The Daily Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: Wicked Sea, (2010 Newbury), 1pt win, 7/2: absolutely sauntered home when we tipped her at Salisbury last time. A 7lb rise barely looks enough given the ease of her win, and following a filly in form at this stage of the season often pays up.
Mujassam, (1430 Beverley), 6/1: registered three turf wins for Roger Varian rising to a mark of 98 in 2016. New trainer O’Meara has only squeezed two all weather wins as his mark has steadily declined to this lifetime low of 76. That does mean he gets to carry top weight in the worst race he will ever have contested and that class shift can see him finally win again on turf.
Pioneering, (1530 Beverley), 17/2: another O’Meara top weight. This fella was a hat-trick scorer last Autumn including twice here. His form has been fairly poor so far this year, albeit in fair races. He needs to up his game here, but he’s back on his favourite track, has a small ratings fall and looks decent value.
Pearl Noir, (1700 Beverley), 9/1: has to dominate from the front. Looks the only early pace in this and has made all here in the past. Priced wide because of a poor draw in 12, but given a good start he can grab the rail and play catch-me-if-you-can.
