The European Tour heads to France this week, with Le Golf National just outside Paris hosting the French Open.
This is one of the big events of the European Tour, the Rolex Series, and is also being held at the course which will host the Ryder Cup in September.
As a result the majority of Europe’s elite are teeing up this week as well as a certain young American called Justin Thomas.
The Rolex events tend to won by highly regarded players and Thomas is the highest ranked player here, but we feel he may be on a bit of a scouting mission ahead of the Ryder Cup and we’ll give him a miss.
Jon Rahm is the next on the betting list, but we have doubts about his patience on a tricky course. Instead we’re going to side with Alex Noren. The Swede missed his first three cuts here, but has finished in the top ten on the last two occasions. He arrives in solid form and will carry our cash.
We like the idea of a French player performing well at home, but Alexander Levy, the highest ranked Frenchman, has a disappointing record around this course.
Instead we’re going to take a punt on another Swede, Alexander Bjork. He won earlier in the year in the China Open, so has proven his winning mentality. He came third in this event last year, and we think he can come close again.
Noren to win, 1 pt, at 16/1, Bet365
Bjork 0.5 pts each way at 60/1, 1/5 the odds for top eight places, Paddy Power
