Two winners (10/3 and 14/1) on yesterday’s Yankee provided a decent return but was one winner short of cranking up to a big windfall.

NAP OF THE DAY: Humbert, (1615 Newcastle), 1pt win, 5/1 generally available
Humbert has been in great form this season in a string of big handicaps. Interesting that he comes here having had Royal Ascot as an option. Ran much better than 5th implies last time, and comes here nicely drawn and with the reliable Danny Tudhope in the saddle.
Pickett’s Charge, (1330 Newcastle), 5/1: this one’s form has been a bit in and out. A key factor though is that the “in” has tended to come on this surface. The handicapper can give horses separate all weather ratings but has left this fella on his turf rating off the back of some poor turf runs. If he can show some improvement back on the synthetics, then he may just have dropped to a decent mark in a weak race.
Weather Front (1540 Newcastle), 4/1: has won twice here recently with come from behind tactics. Looks generously treated up just 6lbs for two wins and should have the race run to suit as main rival Frown likes to dominate. May not have a ton in hand, but liking for conditions is enough to swing it his way today.
Jashma, (1745 Newmarket), 5/2: This Richard Hughes trained sprinter has to be considered one of the unluckiest losers of the season when terminally trapped at Sandown. The slightly less unlucky Rio Ronaldo has come out of that race and won already and Jashma can also make amends here.
