The PGA Tour heads to West Virginia this week for a Military Tribute at The Greenbrier, held on the Old White TPC course.
Some of the game’s top players are absent which means that Tony Finau is the market leader this week. The big hitter has been playing well of late, as fifth in the US Open testifies, but he’s a short price for someone who has only won once on the PGA Tour. And that was two years ago in Puerto Rico.
We’re drawn to Russell Henley as he has form at this course, fifth for the last two years, and finished sixth in the Travelers Championship just a couple of weeks ago.
But instead we’re going take a chance on Webb Simpson. He recently stated that this course was one of seven on the Tour that he should usually contend. And he showed with his Players victory in May that he has the class to win when he’s in the running. Hopefully that will be this week.
Our second option is JB Holmes. Although he missed the cut last week, he had come third and second in his previous two outings. Throw in some expected rain to lengthen the course and Holmes’s power fade could come to the fore.
Simpson to win, 1 pt, at 16/1, widely available
Holmes 0.5 pts each way at 33/1, 1/4 the odds for the first five places, SkyBet
