Friday Yankee: Blue is the colour…

The Daily Yankee:

NAP OF THE DAY:  Blue De Vega, (1320 Sandown), 1pt win, 15/2  Bet365, BetVictor

A cracking sprint in which Jashma would appeal if abandoning front running tactics, and course lover Rio Ronaldo would appeal but for the 6lb penalty for his Salisbury win.  Instead this is an ideal chance for Blue De Vega to deliver on the promise of his fast finishing fourth in the Epsom Dash. Subsequent defeats in Listed class and over 6f at Ascot can be excused, and Oisin Murphy should have this race run perfectly to suit.

Well Done Fox, (1350 Sandown), 7/2:  ran a blinder when 8th of 28 in a top Royal Ascot event. That form could be good enough, but with Ryan Moore on board and a handy draw we expect him to improve again on his Ascot effort, and he looks good value to land this event.

Spark Plug, (1530 Sandown), 6/1:  a previous winner and runner up in this race.  We tipped him each way at Ascot where a troubled run ruined a promising chance of a place.  Euginio was second then off the back of which he is a short priced favourite here, but Spark Plug could have run him close there and now has conditions he obviously thrives on.

Blue Laureate (1605 Sandown), 6/1: a very strong handicap with Alfarris a worthy favourite.  Cheekpieces worry us on a Haggas trainer horse though, whilst a mighty hike for Pivoine may stop him repeating his recent win.  We like Ian Williams and it could be worth risking his 3yo here Blue Laureate who made eye catching late progress here on his first run for the yard and after a break. Some progress from that and a weight-for-age featherweight could see another Williams masterclass.
