NAP OF THE DAY: Alabanza, (1505 Ayr), 1pt win, 9/4 generally available
This lightly raced 3yo is exactly the type to thrive against older opponents at this time of year. His two handicap efforts have been full of promise in recent days, only beaten by a couple of highly progressive rivals. Should open his account here.
Natajack, (1430 Ayr), 15/8: made all to win at Hamilton earlier in the week and those tactics can work well here. Does have to contend with a 6lb higher mark but that is still a rating 7lbs lower than when winning on this day last year, so a follow up should be well within range.
Ventura Knight (1605 Ayr), 13/8: a 3yo who already despatched a competitive field of his elders with a cosy Hamilton win a few days ago. A 6lb penalty can be shrugged aside, and he should deliver another blow to the older generation.
Perfect Words, (1710 Ayr), 7/4: a veteran with three wins in seven course appearances including winning this race for the last two years, and winning here last time. Only 3lbs higher for the recent win and rated between the marks of the previous race wins. Huge advantage with Becky Smith on board having ridden in those two previous race wins and riding winners in the last fortnight.
