Monday Yankee: Marnie breath of fresh Ayr…

A nice Nap win yesterday for the very well backed Alabanza, (tipped at 9/4, SP 11/10).  More of the same?….

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Marnie James, (1535 Ayr), 1pt win, 9/4 generally available

Has to contend with an 8lb rise for last week’s Haydock win, but he hammered the opposition that day including a runner up who had won his last four.  An improving 3yo he looks slightly more progressive than main challenger Line Of Reason, whose time is surely coming soon, but not against Marnie.

Vallarta, (1430 Ayr), 4/1:  we’ve had an eye on this increasingly well handicapped veteran.  His declining mark now allows him yet another drop in class and the stable landed a race here yesterday with a similar sort who was the subject of a big gamble me.  Winnings look likely to get played up here, and a success finally beckons.

Shamaheart, (1900 Ripon), 4/1:  has looked back to something like his best on his last two starts and has back history that suggests there is more to come.  Crucially he gets the help of champ De Sousa whose aggressive tactical style is perfect for Ripon, and that tactical edge added to recent form can be compelling.

El Borracho, (1940 Windsor), 9/2:  Another chance to back a 3yo against its elders.  Boscastle is almost too unexposed, and the more experienced El Borracho looks the safer bet.  Hasn’t had the best of luck in his last three starts, including under today’s jockey Kirby last time at Kempton when finishing all too late.  Kirby will know better now and a change of luck is due.
