Slightly frustrating to get 2 wins on the Yankee for the fourth day in a row yesterday. Another small profit but a case of what might have been…
The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Firlinfeu, (1700 Pontefract), 1pt win, 3/1 generally available
3yos against their elders has been the July theme and we won’t stop here. Mark Johnston took this one all the way to Windsor last time for a fine 3rd in a decent little race, and he can make all here. His older challengers look exposed with Alfred Richardson on a lifetime high mark, and Quoteline Express on his highest mark in 19 runs.
Dutch Monarch, (1445 Wolves), 11/4: Sir Mark Prescott is beginning to hit his traditional mid-summer stride. This filly returned this season with a cracking run and can be forgiven failing to improve on that upped in class last time. Steps back down now and looks set to deliver on that debut promise against weaker opponents.
Mearing, (1630 Pontefract), 13/2: has been plugging away without success, but gets an 8lb pull for half a length with favourite here Ideal Candy on Beverley form. Looked unfortunate returning to that track last time, and this stiff track should suit his run style.
Lalania, (2010 Brighton), 2/1: looks like a progressive type after just four runs, with her handicap debut last time a decent effort. Can dominate this lower grade contest and should win a race for the lead with recent 7f winner Starboy.
