The PGA Tour heads to Illinois this week, with the TPC Deere Run hosting the John Deere Classic.
This event acts as something of a strange warmup event for next week’s Open Championship, being played on a parkland course in the American Midwest. And the field reflects this.
Favourite is Francisco Molinari, fresh off his first PGA Tour win. We’re big fans of the Italian, but we’re not sure of launching on a single digit price.
Zach Johnson has a very good record here, winning in 2012, and coming top three another five times. Steve Stricker is another former winner, three years in a row, but we’re going to side with the defending champion, Bryson DeChambeau.
He’s already proved his liking for this course, is playing well, and is on the up in his golfing career.
Our second option is Chesson Hadley, another player who is making waves in the Tour. He has registered seven top 10 finishes this season and finished top 25 in this event last year. He took a week off after finishing top eight at the Quicken Loans, so will be fresh entering this week.
DeChambeau to win, 1 pt, at 12/1, Ladbrokes
Hadley to win, 1 pt, at 28/1, Betfair Sportsbook
