The Daily Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: Miracle Of Medinah, (1635 Ascot), 1pt Win, 7/1 generally available
We have been rightly keen on 3yos against elders of late and warm favourite here How Far represents that cause. But we also love a horse-for-course, and strangely Miracle Of Medinah could be just that. Beaten in all four Ascot runs may not augur well, but that was at 100, 66, 50 and 33/1. He has outperformed in most of those and his close third to potential Group 1 horse Dreamfield and subsequent multiple winner Silent Echo was outstanding. Forgive a subsequent defeat at unsuitable Windsor.
Main Edition (1445 Newmarket), 11/4: This is mainly a rematch of Ascot’s Albany Stakes won from the front by Main Edition. If anything, those tactics will work better here so the open betting suggests punters expect others to improve past her. That can be a dangerous expectation with these tough Mark Johnston trained fillies and the value is in backing the repeat.
Wissahickon, (1500 Newmarket), 11/4: won nicely last time at York on turf debut. He is reopposed by Beringer, but always had him beat last time and has greater scope to improve. Stoute’s Zaaki looks the danger, but Frankie’s mount should still have enough in the locker to see him off.
Shadow Warrior, (1740 Ascot), 4/1: Has been in good form in three runs this year. Being able to win from behind at Windsor is never easy, but he pulled that off narrowly last time and gets just a 2lbs rise. This course is much better for those tactics and in Rossa Ryan he has arguably the best apprentice in the race.
