Monday Yankee: Presidential decree…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Presidential, (1605 Ayr), 2pts win, 4/1 William Hill, Unibet

Roger Fell’s handicapper has been a regular in this blog as he has been in progressive form all season.  Campaigned mostly over 6 and 7f, he opened up a new chapter of opportunity with a cracking staying on 3rd over Carlisle’s stiff mile in a top handicap last time, easily the best of those coming from off the pace.  This easier mile should suit, and the likely fight for early pace can set it up for his late running style.

Magical Effect, (1535 Ayr), 7/2:  Ruth Carr’s busy handicapper has started to strike form in his last two runs and was desperately unlucky not to win last time.  He is up 4lbs for that, but he looks to be flying right now and can gain compensation for that last effort.

Pipers Note, (1550 Ripon), 2/1:  a true course specialist who runs much better here than anywhere else.  As such it is interesting to see him now 5lbs lower than when second here just four runs ago.  Those intervening runs were at less favoured venues and this looks very much like a chance to strike at his favourite venue and earn a rise to get into the course feature, the Great St Wilfred next month.

Racemaker, (1640 Ayr), 7/2:  Another who was arguable unlucky last time when denied room until too late in a messy race at Ripon.  Prior to that he had won well before an excellent second, so he is on a consistent run of good form.  Pacesetting favourite Smugglers Bay may get competition for the lead which should help the set up for Racemaker.
