Saturday Yankee: Dilemma solved?

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Davy’s Dilemma, (1625 York), 1pt win, 4/1 generally available

This guy has been in solid form all year.  He has soft ground winning form at this time last year and is only 4lbs higher here.  He ran ok last time at too short a trip, but it’s the sight of the mud flying that can be transformational to his prospects and he is confidently expected to step up.

George Of Hearts, (1425 Ascot), 4/1:  was one of many here to bomb in Royal Ascot’s Britannia Stakes.  That was a curious race and his hold up tactics didn’t work out.  He ran on late and gave the impression that a big win is nigh.

Firmament, (1500 Ascot), 16/1:  any number of possibilities in this superb 7f dash.  David O’Meara has his horses in their usual midsummer peak form, and his Firmament has finally been given some respite from the handicapper.  He has had several near misses in big handicaps here, ran a good one last time at Newmarket and can come good in the cheekpieces back at his favourite stomping ground.

Growl, (1440 York), 8/1:  we followed this guy closely last year including lumping on him in a soft ground Stewards Cup when a close fourth.  This is an easy 6f on soft ground again and he is getting well handicapped after some less than inspiring efforts of late.  Trainer Fahey always does well here and the rains bring Growl very firmly into the mix.
