The new Premier League season is almost upon us, but first we have the traditional curtain raiser, the Community Shield.
This pits last season’s FA Cup winner, Chelsea, against the Premier League champion Manchester City. This is not usually a great betting opportunity, teams are not yet match fit and the managers could still use it as a warm up game, but it’s still an early opportunity to win a trophy.
City are the favourites for today’s clash, but the FA Cup winners have triumphed in the last four runnings and we’ll take a punt they do so again today.
We were impressed with the play of young winger Callum Hudson Odoi during Chelsea’s preseason game with Arsenal, and we’ll take a chance that he shines again. We’ll take the 11/1 on offer that he’s the first goal scorer.
