Saturday Yankee: Marvellous start to Shergar Cup

The Daily Yankee:

NAP OF THE DAY:  Tis Marvellous, (1305 Ascot), 1pt win, 7/1 generally available

The Shergar Cup offers a few good betting opportunities starting with this 5f dash.  Loads of early pace here, but this track can be tricky to gauge effort, even more so for some of the International jockeys, and it could set up for a closer.  Tis Marvellous was hitting form when 4th in the big Wokingham here over 6f before bombing out at Goodwood.  His could set up for him, he’s back at a track he runs well, and Hollie Doyle should know when to press the buttons.

Byron Flyer, (1340 Ascot), 6/1:  we know he likes these conditions having been a decent second to the excellent Euchen Glen in this last year.  Now has the help of Hayley Turner and she can bide her time behind the pacesetting Jukebox Jive and pounce up the straight to give the women jockeys an unbelievable start.

Via Serendipity (1450 Ascot), 6/1: won a good Sandown handicap and almost followed up a few days later in a very tough event. His latest fast finishing 4th came in a top 7f course event and now back to a mile he should have a great chance.  Another for the pink team and Hayley Turner.

George Of Hearts, (1600 Ascot), 3/1:  Won well over 7f before unlucky here in the 1m Britannia.  Again had little go right here last time and now steps down to 6f.  Going sprinting could a genius move and he should be finishing fastest of all.  Would have been Nap material for a more Ascot-savvy jockey, but still has huge chance.
