A welcome Nap win yesterday when Tis Marvellous followed our script to land Ascot’s opener at an advised 7/1.
The Daily Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: Champs Inblue, (1740 Windsor), 1pt win, 11/2 generally available
Has a basement rating but has hinted at better in recent runs. This step up in trip should suit on breeding, and he has run at shorter trips as if needing a bigger test of stamina. This is far from being a quality race, and any improvement for Pat Phelan’s gelding should put him bang in the mix.
India, (1510 Leicester), 3/1: Michael Bell’s filly looked an improver when running away with a small race at Catterick last time. A 6lb rise looks pretty generous, and whilst it may be harder to make all in this company, she has a buoyant Hayley Turner on board on a roll after yesterday’s Shergar Cup success.
Simpson, (1600 Windsor), 11/2: looked a 3yo handicapper to watch at the start of the season but it just hasn’t gone right for him all year campaigned in top handicaps. This is a step down and brings him to Windsor where he has run his best career starts. It’s a slight leap of faith after some disappointing efforts, but if he is to fire back it should be today.
Band Of Outlaws, (1715 Curragh), 11/2: Joseph O’Brien’s handicapper landed a nice nap for us here in July. He has been pretty kindly treated for that and his defeat at Galway last time can be ignored as he made a bad draw worse with a tardy start. Back at the Curragh, he has every chance of returning to winning ways.
