Monday Yankee: Sleepy start to week

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Not So Sleepy, (1540 Ayr), 1pt win, 4/1 generally available

Trainer Hugh Morrison makes an almighty trek north with his classy handicapper and it can pay off.  His last run at Goodwood was one of the most eye catching of the week suffering all the way up the straight in vain pursuit of a clear run.  This is a step down in class and he can give weight to in form but lower class opponents.

Storming Tom, (1455 Ripon), 11/4:  we were on Tom last week when he tried to make all at Catterick.  That didn’t quite work after he lost very narrowly to an improving 3yo.  This course loves a front runner, and a repeat of that effort should be enough here.

Acrux, (1510 Ayr), 6/1:  David O’Meara is having his usual successful mid Summer, and Acrux has contributed by graduating from a claiming success to a smooth handicap win at Ripon.  That was good form, and two good efforts afterwards have come in slowly run events that don’t suit his hold up tactics. A big field here should help ensure the pace he needs and he can chalk up another for O’Meara.

Sicario, (1930 Windsor), 9/2:  ok so we gave this guy the three star Nap treatment 3 runs ago to no avail, missed his 13/2 Ffos Las success, and napped him to defeat on Friday – so he owes us.  In truth he ran too close to a fast pace on Friday, we remain convinced he has wins in him and that by relieving him of the burden of our Nap, he can go in again today.
