After the excitement of Brooks Koepka’s third major win in the US PGA Championship, the PGA Tour heads to the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina for the more everyday Wyndham Championship.
The field is a little less star covered than the US PGA the week before, and Webb Simpson is the favourite. Fans of this blog will know that we tipped Simpson to threaten last week, and although he played well (finishing tied for 19th) he never really got a serious blow in.
That said, he now moves to a tournament that he feels very comfortable at. He lives in the district, he won his first PGA Tour event here, and he has named his daughter after the event. He has five top ten (and an 11th) finishes in eight outings, and we find it difficult to keep him off the ticket even with a relatively short price.
Our second selection comes a little from left field, and may have something to do with my heart ruling my head. Sergio Garcia.
The Ryder Cup is just around the corner and the European team needs a fit and firing Garcia. There are not many events left for him to prove his form to captain Thomas Bjorn, and this may be his best opportunity. He likes the course and has won around here before – in fact his four visits have seen three top four finishes. Let’s hope!

Garcia 0.5 pts each way at 40/1, 1/4 the odds for the first five places, bet365
