Premier League: Sharp shooting Sergio…

Defending champions Manchester City host Huddersfield Town in the opening televised game today, and are expected to put the visitors to the sword.

City won their first game of the season at Arsenal last weekend, but rather looked like they were in second gear for most of the game. They suffered the blow of losing  influential midfielder Kevin de Bruyne to injury midweek, but their squad is strong and this shouldn’t be much of an inconvenience.

Huddersfield were the only team to stop City from scoring at home in the league last season, drawing 0-0, but the home side will want to put this right. Expect pressure right from the start, and we’ll take the 6/1 Paddy Power offers that star striker Sergio Aguero scores in the first 15 minutes.

The second televised match sees Manchester United travel south to take on Brighton.

There has been a lot of talk about unrest at Old Trafford, most of it stemming from manager Jose Mourinho’s grumpy demeanour, but they started the season with a hard-fought victory over Leicester last week. And they will be looking to cement a good start to the season with victory on the south coast today.

It won’t be easy. Brighton won this fixture 1-0 last season, and they know hone fixtures are key to their survival in the league.

We think United will grind out a victory and we are tempted with a win to nil bet. However, there has been one United player in the spotlight this season – Paul Pogba.

Whatever his relationship with his manager, Pogba has come back from winning the World Cup with a fresh attitude. He demanded the penalty against Leicester, an indication of a positive mindset, and we think he could boss the midfield today.

We’ll take the 5/1 on offer that he wins the man of the match award.

Recommendations:

Man City/Huddersfield: Aguero to score in first 15 minutes, 1 pt, at 6/1, Paddy Power (

Brighton/Man United: Pogba to win man of the match, 1 pt, at 5/1, BetFred
