The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: George Of Hearts (1835 Goodwood), 1pt win, 7/2 generally available
Let us down when coming with a winning run at Ascot recently only to flatten out for a close third. That at least showed the step down to 6f was suitable, and this sharper track should help him see his effort through. Polybius may be the danger, but it’s probably up to George if he wins.
Theglasgowwarrior, (1355 York), 11/1: Jim Goldie’s improving handicapper has looked in great form all Summer. Recent runs have been long on promise but short on luck, and the strong pace here should be right up his street. A mark of 87 looks like it still has mileage, and he’s a nice price.
Matewan, (1545 Newmarket), 3/1: Trainer Ian Williams has been one of our go-to guys all season, and his lightly raced 3yo could have bags of improvement in him after just two runs this season. The last of those was a superb staying on second at this track. He is due to go up 5lbs for that but gets in here off the same rating as last time.
Dagueneau, (1905 Goodwood), 9/4: we have been followers of Ed Dunlop’s progressive 3yo stayer all season. He really came good when stepped up to 2 miles at Beverley last time, and a small rise since may not be enough to stop the follow up.
