There are a couple of tasty fixtures to wet the appetites of watching viewers today in the Premier League.
First off is the London derby between Watford and Crystal Palace. Both sides have shown enough early in the season to indicate that staying up will not be a problem. The Hornets have won two out of two, while Palace where probably more impressive in defeat to Liverpool than victory over Fulham.
This is a tough game to call. But Roy Hodgson will set his Palace side to bd strong defensively and to counter attack with pace. They have the personnel to do so, with the likes of Wilfred Zaha and Andros Townsend. Zaha has been all the rage so far this season, but we note that Townsend has probably come as close as anyone to scoring against Liverpool, hitting the bar with a vicious shot. We’ll take him to score at anytime.
The late game sees high-flying Chelsea travel north to take on Newcastle.
The Londoners have won their opening two games, scoring six goals in the process. They now face a side with just one point and one goal.
Newcastle looked toothless away at Cardiff and although they offered more threat during their home game against Tottenham, it was only by small margins.
We take Chelsea to win this game and look to Eden Hazard to stamp his authority on the game. The Belgian has been used sparingly so far after his exploits in the World Cup, but he’s expected to start today and should be sufficiently rested to cause Newcastle problems. We’ll take him to win the man of the match award.
Watford/Palace: Townsend to score anytime, 1 pt, at 5/1, Paddy Power
Newcastle/Chelsea: Hazard to win man of the match, 1 pt, at 5/1, William Hill
