NAP OF THE DAY: Dancing Star, (1610 Goodwood), 1pt win, 6/1 generally available
Representing the flying Balding stable, this mare has untapped potential at 7f. Her course form is two wins, including the prestigious Stewards Cup, and a desperately unlucky second here a few weeks ago when debuting at this trip. This is harder than that mares only event, but she can still make her course form count.
Zihaam, (1550 Beverley), 5/1: has had a busy year with 11 runs, and two wins, one of them here. He is only 5lbs higher than that win, and only a pound higher than when an excellent second one on his only other Beverley run two weeks ago. He may have won with a clean run, but his evident love of this idiosyncratic track stamps him as good value here.
Geetanjali, (1750 Goodwood), 7/2: a winning nap for us earlier in the year this filly remains in cracking form. This will be a first try at 12f, but she has been finishing well at 10f and this is an easy enough test of stamina. Hayley Turner rides her for the first time and is very strong around his track.
Dandilion, (1800 Beverley), 11/4: Alex Hales’ mare is drawn a little wider than ideal in box 8, but apart from that everything looks ideal. Her third at Leicester last time was a clear return to form, and her career best effort was a storming win on her only run at Beverly last year off a mark of 60. She returns on that exact same mark, and in Paul Hanagan she has just about the best jockey in the north.
