The race for the FedEx Cup enters its second knockout week, with the TPC Boston hosting the Dell Technologies Championship.
The field stands at 100, with all the top players on the PGA Tour vying to not only win this tournament but also make the top 70 for next week’s BMW Championship.
Our first selection for this week is Rory McIlroy. The Northern Irishman has won twice around this course in the past, including in 2016 on his way to win the FedEx Cup series. In fact, he is the all-time leading earnings leader at TPC Boston.
Rory has some good finishes in the big events this year, coming runner up at the Open and sixth at the Bridgestone Invitational. He has taken a couple of weeks to freshen up and could now go well.
Our second option is the Masters champion Patrick Reed. This player clearly has the class to complete at the top level, and with the Ryder Cup just around the corner his juices will be flowing. He has an excellent record around this course, finishing sixth, fifth and fourth in his last three years.
McIlroy to win, 1 pt, at 16/1, widely available
Reed 0.5 pts each way at 35/1, 1/5 the odds for the first six places, William Hill
