Premier League: Spot on Milner…

The Premier League weekend starts with Liverpool’s trip to the Midlands to take on Leicester City.

The home team have started well with two wins out of three, but now face one of only four sides with 100% win records to date. And do so without their talisman striker.

Jamie Vardy has an excellent record against Liverpool, scoring seven goals in five games – and that’s out of a total of nine goals! But he’s suspended, and this swings the balance towards the visitors.

One of Liverpool’s most impressive performers so far this season has been James Milner. The midfielder has benefitted from his international retirement, enjoying a rest in the summer and getting the benefit of a full preseason fitness program.

He took (and scored) Liverpool’s penalty in their last away game at Crystal Palace and he’s now 5/1 to score at anytime. We’ll try that.

The evening game sees defending champions Manchester City hosting Newcastle.

City stuttered in their last match, needing a late equaliser to snatch a point against Wolves. They will surely be keen to put matters right this evening, and they face a side in difficulty.

Newcastle have won just one point from their first three games, that in a dreary goalless draw with Cardiff, and have been knocked out of the League Cup by Championship side Nottingham Forest.

The visitors are likely to try and keep things tight, making it as difficult as possible for City to break them down. But City will, and then the question becomes how many?

We’ll take midfielder maestro David Silva to offer the creative spark to open up the Newcastle defence, which could well win him the man of the match award.

Leicester/Liverpool: Milner to score anytime, 1 pt, at 5/1, Paddy Power

Man City/Newcastle: David Silva to win man of the match, 1 pt, at 4/1, William Hill
