NAP OF THE DAY: De Vegas Kid, (1630 Brighton), 1pt win, 9/4 generally available
We are always fans of striking whilst the iron is hot, and it can’t get much hotter than winning yesterday. That’s was De Vegas Kid did at Brighton, and he stays overnight in a bid to repeat the dose today. He made all yesterday over a mile and should get his way in front over today’s 7f. He runs off the same rating and should register the same result.
Cuban Heel, (1615 Ffos Las), 6/4: we have a chequered history with this fella, and whilst there is a bit of him that might be tricky, he won’t get much better chances than this. His runner up effort at Epsom last time has already been flattered by a win from the third.
The Secrets Out, (1930 Windsor), 11/2: has run almost exclusively at longer trips this season winning twice. That said he won at this course and distance last year, and on a track that can suit a pacemaker he could be very tough to pass.
Brendan, (2020 Newcastle), 6/1: a truly enormous horse who looks more like a marathon chaser than a sprinter. Has a basement rating after a 19 run winless career mostly in Scotland. However, finally put those big feet forward when pipped on his all weather debut here last time. In the hope that the sand is the making of this half horse half elephant, we’ll give him one chance to finally deliver.
