NAP OF THE DAY: Mon Beau Visage, (1540 Haydock), 1pt win, 5/1 generally available
Whilst duly wary of a 14 race losing streak, David O’Meara’s charge is now 8lbs lower than when winning last Summer and delivered a huge hint last time that the drought could soon be over. He looked very unlucky at Thirsk that day and now gets stable jockey Danny Tudhope back in the saddle. Looks well drawn and should enjoy conditions provided there is no significant rain.
Gunforhire, (1520 Salisbury), 5/1: If we ignore his slightly below par all weather run last time, his previous turf efforts should make him a major contender. Add on the godly Ryan Moore up top and he looks irresistibly priced.
Rasheeq, (1800 Carlisle), 7/1: has just one win in a terrible Southwell maiden from 27 runs, but was placed six times last season in class 2, 3 & 4 handicaps, from marks in the high 80s. This season has been awful, but he now drops to class 5 for the first time, has dropped to a career low 72, and he has attracted support which is invariably significant from this stable.
Fresh Terms, (1915 Chelmsford), 6/4: did us a big favour when romping home at Epsom last time. Has a big winning chance on that form although she may have been flattered by grabbing the favoured stands rail. That said, front running tactics can work well here too, and she should be able to dominate before the handicapper truly catches up.
