The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Mordin, (1555 Sandown), 1pt win, 5/1 generally available
He has been freshened up after fading in the high quality Magnet Cup. Before that had looked a little unlucky in defeat, the form of which is working out well. Could have the race set up by some front running rivals and looks to hold a big chance.
Titus, (1500 Doncaster), 9/1: This is a high quality handicap with class acts Walton Street and Ben Vrackie opposed by a refreshed Reverend Jacobs and the weights-hiked big winners Just in Time and Titus. We think it’s significant that Titus comes here after a consummate York win. He could have picked any number of targets, but has gone for this further step up in trip and it can pay to follow that confidence.
Firmament, (1630 Sandown), 7/2: an old blog favourite now in a claiming handicap although still rated 100. Jamie Spencer is entrusted to get his cheek-pieces head in front, and he should appreciate these shallower waters have been repeatedly in the deep end of late.
Lake Volta, (1710 Doncaster), 5/1: has been a typically busy Mark Johnston 3yo and recent form suggests the handicapper just about has his measure. That said, this race looks a fraction more winnable than some of late and with the excellent Buick up top he can squeeze one more win out of his rating.
