Champions League: Moura the scorer…

The group stages of this season’s Champions League kick off this evening, and there are two cracking ties involving English clubs.

First up, Tottenham travel to Italy to take on Inter Milan. The two sides have had patchy starts to the season, Spurs have lost their last two league games while Inter drew their first home game before losing to outsiders Parma.

All that said, Spurs are favourites for the game. They impressed in this tournament last season, topping a group which included Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, while this is the first time for Inter in this tournament since 2013.

We think there will be goals in this game—Inter need to take advantage of their home games and every Spurs game this season has seen at least three—and we’ll go for Lucas Moura to continue his impressive start to the campaign.

The second game sees Liverpool host big spending Paris Saint-Germain. This has all the hallmarks of a cracker as two of Europe’s most free scoring sides collide.

Both sides are unbeaten so far in their respective leagues, but Liverpool could be hindered by an eye injury to striker Roberto Firmino. This would be a blow as Firmino looked in good form on Saturday, scoring the winner against Spurs.

PSG are likely to unleash a strike force which includes French star Kylian Mbappe, Uruguay’s Edinson Cavani and Brazilian superstar Neymar.

We think this forward line will cause Liverpool’s new defence all kinds of trouble, and with the home team favourites the value probably lies with the visitors.

Paddy Power offers an enhanced 11/1 that Neymar scores from outside the penalty area. Given his propensity to flinging himself to the floor, he could end up with a few chances to do this from free kicks. We’ll be aboard.

Recommendations:

Inter/Spurs: Moura to score anytime, 1 pt, at 7/2, Unibet

Liverpool/PSG: Neymar to score from outside the penalty area, 1 pt, at 11/1, Paddy Power
