The FedEx playoffs come to an end this weekend with the Tour Championship, held at East Lake Golf Club near Atlanta, Georgia.
This season’s top 30 players qualify for the event, and any of the top five can win the FedEx Cup if they win the tournament. It’s still possible, however, for one player to win the FedEx Cup and another the Tour Championship.
The reduced field means crimped odds, with three players vying for favouritism with odds in single figures – Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson and new world no. 1 Justin Rose.
We’ve been fans of Rory for most of the playoffs, and he has come close. We’re going to side with him once more and hope he translates his good form into a win just before the Ryder Cup.
Our second selection is Francisco Molinari. We kicked ourselves that we didn’t side with one of our favourite players at the Open, but will do so this week. We think his straight hitting and calm demeanour will pay dividends.
McIlroy to win, 1 pt, at 9/1, SkyBet
Molinari to win, 1 pt, at 25/1, Ladbrokes
