A frustrating 1-2-3-4 from yesterday’s Yankee with an easy winner left stranded by three close defeats. Better luck today…
The Daily Yankee
NAP OF THE DAY: Winston C, (1525 Beverley), 1pt win, 4/1 generally available
Campaigned through an ambitious programme of top handicaps last Autumn for his previous trainer. Has moved to jumps maestro Harry Fry and first time for him, on seasonal debut, could be the time to strike if the trainer has unlocked improvement. This is a drop in class, and he was withdrawn when we tipped him last time after the ground changed, suggesting connections are keen to ensure this debut effort is not wasted.
Saaheq, (1350 Sandown), 5/4: made a late 3yo debut for new yard recently but absolutely sauntered home. Only 5lbs higher here, and although slightly higher drawn than ideal for Sandown, should have few problems following up.
Dawn Dancer, (1620 Sandown), 5/1: has had a busy season for his in form yard, but followed a recent win with a career best effort in second here last time. Finished ahead of Whitlock then and is weighted to confirm the form. Buick on top always a plus.
Imperial Choice, (1725 Sandown), 5/1: nicely bred filly who showed a little in maidens before two fair handicap runs. Looks likely to be suited by this step up in trip, and the longer straight than at previous handicap venues Brighton and Chelmsford should allow a more conventional wind up of effort. Buick again the pilot.
