Saturday Yankee: Let’s hear it for the Boys…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Bengali Boys, (1440 Ayr), 2pts win,  12/1 generally available

One of only a few 3yos in here, he missed making the Gold Cup by one slot.  He is very interesting as his only previous run on soft was a 6 length romp in the 23 runner Super Sprint at Newbury last Summer.  He hasn’t matched that as a 3yo in mainly higher company, but now gets his conditions again, gets a useful 5lb claimer, and is the highest rated runner in the race. A high draw looked helpful yesterday, and he could go really well.

Billy No Mates, (1325 Ayr), 9/2:  Top weight in a nursery is an old system and it might just work here.  Billy No Mates has the biggest burden after a nursery debut romp.  He may be 10lbs up, but he stormed clear on soft ground that day, and these conditions are likely to be too much for many of these youngsters, but we know they suit Billy.  He should have plenty of mates by 1.30…

My Lord And Master (1345 Newbury), 11/1:  the rain has arrived just in time for this fella.  He ran twice as a 2yo, storming in by 6l on his only soft ground run, beating stablemate and Derby 7th Young Rascal.  His 3yo campaign has been two runner up efforts in Derby Trials and a fair effort in a French Group 3.  This is his first dip down into handicaps, he gets his ground conditions and he can surprise those who have shown the handicapper more of their wares.

Son Of Rest, (1550 Ayr), 6/1:  Not exactly a dark horse having shot to favouritism here after a close second in a Group 1 in Ireland last weekend.  That may not have been a great Group 1, but nor was it a flash in the pan as this 4yo has consistently shown top form on deep ground. Looks well in and simply has to be the pick against a mostly exposed domestic field.
