This evening the Los Angeles Rams host the Minnesota Vikings in what should be an entertaining clash.
The Rams are expected to win tonight thanks mainly to a supercharged offence, a group of talented players that now make their team the hot favourite for the Super Bowl just three matches into the season.
The Rams have scored over 100 points from their opening three games, with quarterback Jared Goff throwing six touchdowns to four different receivers while his running back Todd Gurley also pounds them in, scoring four times himself.
This team has only punted five times this season, and has gone three and out only once – the first offensive play of the season!
And amidst all the fanfare for their offensive talent, let’s not forget they have also conceded the fewest points in the league to date.
The Rams are now the only NFC side that has a 3-0 record, and look likely to dominate what looks otherwise a weak West division. They may not have it their way all of the time, but they do look well on course for the no. 1 seeding in the NFC.
The AFC looks more difficult to predict, with the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs both with 100% records so far. But neither team looks as strong all round as the Rams, and the traditional AFC powerhouses of the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers are struggling.
The bookies have reacted to this, of course, and the Rams are now the 9/2 favourites to win the Super Bowl. But we at Lap of the Odds think this still represents value, and we confidently feel they will be a lot shorter by January.
Recommendation: LA Rams to win the Super Bowl, 2 pts, at 9/2, widely available
