Thursday Yankee: Box of delight…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Choco Box, (1530 Newmarket), 1pt win, 9/2 generally available

Ed Walker’s lightly raced filly makes her handicap debut off a mark of 83 after an easy maiden win last time.  This is surely tougher, but jockey Jamie Spencer was obviously keen to renew the partnership as he could have ridden a few in here.  He rides this straight track well, and this progressive filly can keep up the improvement.

Rolladice, (1550 Pontefract), 7/2:  has shown little in maidens but stormed in on recent handicap debut.  Has some Pontefract specialists to beat here, but is far less exposed, has great scope to improve and is nicely drawn.

Drill, (1645 Newmarket), 3/1:  was an impressive winner here 3 runs ago.  Followed that by bombing at Goodwood, but that can be a Marmite track.  Was better last time when touched off at Newcastle.  Now back to the scene of her triumph she can return to winning form for the (hopefully) buoyant Spencer.

Queen’s Gift, (1735 Pontefract), 4/1: a blog alumni, when travelled well but forced wide in defeat at Carlisle. Perfectly drawn here and has scope to improve and beat veteran course specialist Van Gerwin.
