The Daily Yankee:
NAP OF THE DAY: Alfarris, (1540 Newmarket), 2pts win, 12/1 generally available
A huge field but plenty of deadwood. Kynren looked a player until the ground quickened up, and Afaak is interesting if the low numbers go well. But Alfarris has looked a quality improver all year. He travels so well, and his hold up tactics will be much better suited here than at pace-favouring York last time. Jim Crowley should get a beautiful ride.
Arthur Kitt, (1330 Newmarket), 7/2: a gutsy Royal Ascot winner and no disgrace in being beaten by the top notch Too Darn Hot at Sandown after having to press from the front. This mile looks much more suitable, and he can out battle likely favourite Beatboxer.
Pretty Pollyanna, (1425 Newmarket), 6/4: Royal Ascot came a bit too quickly for this filly, but after that creditable defeat she absolutely romped home on the July course here. A comfortable winner again since, she returns now to Newmarket and should make mincemeat of these.
Ripp Orf, (1755 Newmarket), 9/2: has had a busy season in top 7f handicaps winning two big ones at Ascot. Looks to have been fairly treated only 4lbs up for winning a tough race last time. Travelled with ease that day like an improving animal, and his late surge tactics ensure he doesn’t get overly punished for his efforts. The uphill finish should again suit the late dart.
