Champions League: Wembley woe for Spurs…

Tonight it’s the turn of Liverpool and Tottenham to represent the Premier League in Europe’s top competition, the Champions League.

Both ties look like potential goal-fests, but Spurs’ clash with Barcelona at Wembley is undoubtedly the highlight.

It’s fair to say that Spurs have struggled at times this season. A 3-0 win at Old Trafford promised much, but defeats since to Watford, Liverpool and in this competition Inter Milan have undone all that good work. They now face a Barcelona side with their eyes very much on this trophy. Additionally, they will be without key midfielders Eriksen and Alli.

We think this points towards an away win, with the potential for a few goals thrown in. Most eyes will be on Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, but their French strike partner Ousmane Dembele has been in cracking form, scoring five in his last nine appearances. We’ll take the 14/5 on offer that he nets during the game.

The second game sees Liverpool travel to Italy to take on Napoli.

The Reds started their Champions League campaign with an enthralling win over PSG and are unbeaten in their domestic league. That said, the star striker Mo Salah has yet to sparkle, with the good results being based more on an improved defensive display rather than blowing teams away with goals.

Napoli are a strong side, but have lost their inspirational manager Sarri to Chelsea and drew 0-0 with lowly Crevna Zvezda last time out.

We think Liverpool have a chance of taking control of this group with a victory in Naples tonight. While Napoli may be concentrating on Salah, we think Sadio Mane could pop in with a goal.

Recommendations:

Tottenham/Barcelona: Dembele to score anytime, 1 pt, at 14/5, Unibet

Napoli/Liverpool: Mane to score anytime and Liverpool to win, 1 pt, at 7/2, Ladbrokes
