Sunday Yankee: The Arc- it’s going to be a mare….

Non-runners decimated the Ascot card yesterday, but we were smiling when Nap Raising Sand decimated the opposition for a well backed win after being tipped at 9/1.  It’s over to France today for a spectacular Arc card…

The Daily Yankee

NAP OF THE DAY:  Enable, (1505 Longchamp), 1pt, 5/4 generally available

was an outstanding winner of this event last year and has been blessed with an ideal draw this time.  If anywhere near her best then she is the obvious winner.  There is a question mark with only one minor all weather run (and win) this season, but master trainer John Gosden can be trusted to deliver her for a repeat win.

Rocques, (1320 Longchamp), 7/4:  unbeaten in three runs including a cosy course and distance win last time.  Doesn’t have any outstanding overseas contender to beat and a repeat of that last run should prove enough.

Battaash, (1625 Longchamp), 7/4:  a race that has traditionally favoured real speed merchants.  None come faster than defending champion Battaash.  Forgive him an Ascot defeat when over racing early, and he has lost only twice more in two years in both runs at Marmite track York.  Should blitz these from a favourable draw.

Teppal, (1700 Longchamp), 20/1:  we should get an upset somewhere on the card and this could be the one.  Teppal is a hard horse to assess, but her French Guineas win at this course remains good form.  A subsequent defeat at Ascot can be easily excused and she is a monster price in a winnable race.
